Welcome to Year 1
The Year 1 teaching team are Miss Jaques, Mrs Lugar and Mrs Roberts.
The teaching assistants are Mrs Hallam, Mrs King and Mrs Freeman.

Our School Day
Classroom doors open at 8:40am.
Children need to be in class by 8:45am, ready for the morning register to be taken.
Our phonics lessons start promptly at 8:55am.
Children have a morning break between 10:15am and 10:30am.
They then have a morning snack, fresh fruit or vegetables, which is provided for them.
Lunchtime is between 11:45am and 12:45pm.
School finishes at 3:00pm.

In year 1, for the first term, children will change for PE lessons in school, so they need to keep their PE kit in school on their pegs. We will let families know when this changes and children can come into school in their PE kits.
Our PE days are Mondays and Fridays. Please ensure that any earrings are removed on these days,
Written homework is given out on a Friday and should be returned on Wednesdays. This involves the learning of key spellings as well as suggested maths activities.
Children need to bring a named water bottle to school each day, containing plain water only, no juice or flavoured water please.

Read Write Inc have made many resources available for parents to use at home with their children. There are videos which explain how it is taught as well as lots of resources to use with your child. They can be accessed here.
