Music
At Highwoods, we aim for all children to develop a love of music. Our four values of inspiration, aspiration, accessibility and resilience permeate through our music lessons. All children follow the Charanga Music curriculum where they learn to listen to and appraise different musical genres as well as how to improvise, compose and perform. They will learn how to play the glockenspiel and recorder and other percussion instrument. Children also have an option to take part in small group tuition for the guitar, ukulele, keyboard, violin and drums run by peripatetic teachers. In addition to this, we offer singing tuition for children who have a passion for this, delivered by a vocal coach.
Choir
Every year, the whole school visits the pantomine- all children attend the show- singing and joining in with the performance. It has become a Highwoods tradition and a wonderful opportunity for our children to be immersed in cultural capital.
Year 6 Production
Our Year 6 yearly production is one of the most exciting events of the school year. It gives every student the chance to showcase their talents through acting, singing, dancing, or working behind the scenes. Throughout the rehearsals, we learn the importance of teamwork, dedication, and confidence as we work together to create a memorable performance. The production brings our year group closer together and allows us to share our hard work with family, friends, and teachers. It is a wonderful experience that creates lasting memories and celebrates the achievements of our final year in primary school.
