About our school

A Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to our website. We hope that this gives you a flavour of what our school stands for but if you need any further support, we are only a phone call away. Even better, come and see us and we would be happy to show you around or discuss anything with you.

We are immensely proud of our school. It is a wonderful place to learn, a great place to work. It brings people together and builds relationships, both for adults and our children. Our parents work closely with us to ensure their children get the best education possible - this is fundamental to successful learning.

Our children are incredible. They are at the centre of everything we do and that will never change. We all have an unshakeable belief at Highwoods that every child deserves the opportunities to achieve and thrive. This includes the fundamental core areas of learning, such as maths, reading and writing, but also opportunities to develop and flourish in others skills: the arts, history, computing and science, to name a few. We recognise that learning to ride a bike, learning a language, trips to unique places, being able to swim and getting back to nature are also essential skills and experiences that should not be missed and we will encourage our children to do all of these.

Preparing our children for the challenges they face can be daunting. The world is constantly changing and evolving. We see our youngest children arrive and embrace the Early Years curriculum, and after 7 years, they leave us as confident, resilient, determined and incredibly intelligent young people. Most of all, they have passion for learning and the character to be the best version of themselves.

Whether you are a new parent, or an existing parent, we are delighted that you have chosen Highwoods as your child’s school.
